BIOGRAPHY

JOSEPH S. COBB was a marine artist that lived on Cape Cod, Massachusetts.  He painted along the North American seashore from Nova Scotia to Florida.  Educated as a mechanical engineer he worked in research and development in the aerospace industry.  As an artist, his education was at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, Decordova Museum school of art, Lincoln, MA. along with private studies in marine painting with Roger Curtis, Joseph McGurl, and John Stobart.
 

Joe's primary medium was oil, but also worked in watercolor, acrylic, pastel and pen & ink.  He taught oil, watercolor, drawing and marine painting on Cape Cod.  He was a member of the American Society of Marine Artists, International Society of Marine Painters, National Maritime Historical Society, U. S. Naval Institute, Cape Cod Art Association, and the Yarmouth Art Guild where he served as a board member.
 

Joe has exhibited at the Frye Museum of Art, Seattle, Washington; the Cummer Museum of Art and Gardens, Jacksonville, Florida; Art at the Powerhouse Gallery, Cleveland Ohio; Arnold Art Gallery, Newport, Rhode Island; the Longboat Key Center for the Arts, Longboat Key, Florida; Rockport Art Association, Rockport, MA. His work is currently held in estate for his family and may be exhibited in the future.
 
Mr. Cobb's work has appeared on the cover of American Society of Marine Artists publications. He has won many awards during his career as an artist.  His paintings are in many private collections throughout the United States and Europe..
 

In addition to marine painting he also painted still life and landscapes.
